Christmas Carol Train

Everyone knows Trey's obsession with trains. When we heard the Christmas Carol train was coming to Union Station we had to go. We took the metrolink to the Union Station so we could walk through the Christmas Carol train. We then went on the paddleboats, which Trey and Laney loved. After our ride on the paddleboats Trey begged to see the Fudge guys sing, so we went in Union Station for a little singing, comedy and sample of fudge. We then ate lunch at Houlihans and headed back home on the metro.

Summer Concerts!

We love to see outdoor concerts in the summer. Usually we just go to the Plaza and listen to them but this week there was one at the Botanical Gardens. We packed a picnic dinner and went early to enjoy the children's village. We even ran into one of Laney's friends from school. After playing in the children's village for 2 hours we sat under the stars and enjoyed listening to The Ralph Butler Band. Who would have thought in August it would be a little chilly.

Summer Fun!

We had many plans this summer, some that we followed through on and some that we didn't. Helping Laney learn how to ride a two wheeler was on the top of the list and we were determined to follow through. One Saturday night we watched as she rode from the highest point in the yard down the very small hill to the swing set. She did it over and over but refused to move to the driveway. Finally we bribed her with donuts at the park and a bike ride. Off we went and she did it. She rode and rode until she crashed. Every child has scratches and bruises from their bike riding lessons, it's part of life!

Baby Dane is here!!!

Baby Dane finally arrived! We were anxiously waiting for 5 1/2 hours in the waiting room. After many snacks, coloring books, many text messages back and forth from friends and family and a visit from the security guard for running in the halls we finally got to meet him. I know it was even longer for Steph and Dave since they got to the hospital at 4am. Dane Leroy arrived at 5:29 pm weighing 7 lbs. 4oz and 21 inches long! Congrats Steph and Dave! Welcome to the world Dane!

Laney's new do!

Laney has been begging me to get her haircut short. I have put her off for 2 months with different excuses. First we had Uncle T.J. and Aunt Ashley's wedding. I didn't want to do anything drastic before the big day. Then we had the recital and she needed her hair long for ponytails. When she asked again I was out of excuses. So today was the day for the haircut. She was so excited and she absolutely loves it, and I do have to say it is adorable on her.
