Balloon Race
We have never been able to attend the Forest Park Balloon Race and boy have we been missing out. It seems like every year the Greentree Festival and the Balloon Race were always the same weekend. This year they were not, so we decided to check it out. First of all we were so unprepared. People bring coolers, tents, the works to the Balloon Glow which is Friday night and the races which are Saturday. We went down Friday to see the Balloon Glow and ran into one of my darling students. We ended up sitting with her family and had a blast. Then on Saturday we returned to watch the balloons take off, ride the barrel train (Trey was going to make sure we didn't miss it), and we ran into some old friends. It ended up being a great weekend. Next year we will definitely be more prepared.

Painted Zebra
Another activity we didn't fit into our summer.
The kids love to go and paint at the Painted Zebra. Aunt Katie works there which is even more exciting. We decided to fit it into a Saturday evening since we ran out of time this summer. Taylor was spending the night with a friend, so it was just Trey and Laney. Trey decided to make a cereal bowl since the girls each have one. Delaney
made a plate shaped like a flower. It was a fun night and the kids will
definitely remember it with the dishes they made.

Greentree Festival
This weekend was the annual Greentree Festival. The entire family was in the parade which kicks off the weekend. Taylor helped decorate and walk with the Student Council float for her school and Delaney, Trey, Darnel and I walked with the float for Delaney's school. We had a blast walking in the parade and then the fun continued at the festival. Taylor danced on stage with her dance group and Delaney and Trey stood in the hour long line for face painting. I have to say the ladies did a fantastic job painting. Not sure if it was worth the hour wait since we had to wash them off at bedtime, but the kids LOVED it!

1st Official Playdate
Trey has had many playdates. usually these playdates include a friend of mine, her children and us. Today marked the 1st day that Trey had a friend come to our house without his parents. We picked Noah up around 9:30 and headed back to our house. It was a yucky day, so my plans for the park were not possible. The playdate started out with Noah in the family room playing and Trey in the kitchen. Some playdate, they weren't even in the same room together. Then I pulled out the playdough and the playdate began. They played with playdough, well actually they mixed all the colors together which drives me crazy. They talked and played and then ate lunch and talked some more. I never could really understand what they were talking about but they seemed to know. Around 2:00 it was time to take Noah home. When I asked Noah if he would want to come back and play he said, "Yes, if my mom and dad say yes!"
The boys had fun and Trey can now say he had his 1st official playdate of his own.

Cold Stone Creamery
Today Delaney and her Daisy Girl Scout troop had the opportunity to take a field trip to Cold Stone Creamery. The girls had a blast. The two women who gave us the tour were fantastic. They were extremely funny keeping both the adults and girls entertained. The ladies were so patient. With 18 6 year old girls making their own ice cream with 2 mixins, they had to be patient. Delaney made her creation with cake batter ice cream, chocolate chips and Oreos. If you haven't been to Cold Stone I highly rec commend it. Especially the one in our neighborhood.

Yes, Another Trey Quote
This morning we were VERY busy. Laney and Tay had school and I had a meeting with all the new kindergarten moms that want their daughters to be in Daisy Girl Scouts. I am the troop organizer so I am trying to get the new troop off the ground. Since we were in a hurry I asked Trey if he wanted a Danish for breakfast. (something he could eat fast) He said he did and then I heard Delaney...
Delaney: Mom he doesn't like it.
Me: What's wrong Trey? It's good it has apples and icing on it.
Trey: I don't like when the icing wiggles in my mouth.

Quote from Trey
When Trey woke up this morning and Darnel went to get him Trey said, "Where's my favorite Mommy?"
Boy does he know how to make a Mommy feel loved and appreciated!

Time for the Tooth Fairy!
Delaney could not wait for her tooth to fall out. On Thursday morning she complained that her tooth hurt and that she wanted me to let her teacher know. When I went to pick her up from school she came running out the the school with a grin from ear and ear and a tooth necklace hanging from her neck. All she talked about on the way home was how the nurse pulled her tooth and then she got to pick a tooth necklace. This was the highlight of her day. Maybe even the year. The one question I heard at least 10 times before she went to bed was... Mommy, Did you know they have lots of different colored necklaces and you get to pick one?

Laney's Loose Tooth
Delaney has a loose tooth again! She really wants it out, so she keeps wiggling it. Yesterday she told Darnel and I that when the rots (we call them roots) break it will come out.

Last Hurrah for the Summer!
To mark the end of the summer we headed up to Tropical Moose to enjoy our last Sno Cone until next summer. The kids love getting Sno Cones and they even got to get a size small which is a step up from the mini. We made a deal the last time we went that if they ate the mini they could get a small the next time. What a treat!
