Conversation Between Laney and Trey

Today was "Promotion Sunday" at church. This is the Sunday when the kids move to their new room for the new school year. For the Elementary kids the only thing that changes are the teachers. They do a rotation model Sunday school, so they rotate to a new room every Sunday. For Trey it is a new room and new teachers. On the way home from church we talked about the new room Trey was in.

Me: Trey did you like your new room?
Trey: Yes, we have a Barney book and a train with no face.
Laney: Trey, not all trains have faces.
Trey: Gordan and James do. (Thomas trains)
Laney: But not ALL trains.
Trey: Gordan and Thomas do.
Laney: Trey, they are fiction!
Trey: No they aren't
Laney: Yes they are trains don't have faces or talk. Right Mom!
Me: They are fiction, but Trey is also right Gordan and Thomas have faces.
(That was the best way I could think of to end it to avoid Trey being in tears)

Aunt Katie

Aunt Katie stopped by to visit and show us her new hair cut. When she first came to the door Trey just stared at her. Then when she came inside Trey looked at her and said, "Take it off!" I guess he wasn't sure about her new hair cut.

Give it time Katie it will grow on him.

Trey Quote

At 10:45 last night we heard Trey yelling from his room, "I need to go potty". I was very excited since he had been asleep since 8:30 pm. This was the first time he had ever woken up to go potty. I took him to the bathroom and then he looked at me with his sleepy brown eyes and said, "Will you please get out."

At least he said PLEASE.

Quote from Taylor

Taylor: Mom what will it be like tomorrow? (weather)

Me: Like today

Taylor: What was it like today?

Feed the Frost

Today I'm sure our friends thought I never feed my children. After school today I stopped by a friends house. The family recently had their kitchen redone so I wanted to stop in drop off a bug for a school project and see the new kitchen. Our 5 minute stop turned into 45 minutes due to us talking and the kids playing. As we were visiting I heard her son say to Trey and Laney, "Do you want a snack?" Those 5 words are like music to Trey's ears. He LOVES snacks. Meals not so much but if you have snacks he will eat all day and be your best friend. Adam (her son) put a few Ritz crackers in Trey's hand and handed a few to Laney. Trey as usual asked for a bag. Meanwhile he realized he didn't really like the Ritz crackers(they do this to me all the time at home, usually after they beg for a new kind of snack at the store). Adam then said. "I also have Scobby Doo Treats" Trey's head immediately spun around and he ran to Adam who now held the Scobby Doo Snacks. Adam poured the box into 2 bags for Laney and Trey. This was the beginning of my kids eating ALL of the food in our friend's house.

Fast forward 3 hours-

After Taylor and her friend worked for 3 hours on their project her friend's mom brought her home. When she walked in the door with a pizza box. I asked why she had the pizza. She said, "It's from dinner at Cara's". I asked if her parents told her to take the pizza home and she said no, Cara did. I said, "You just took the pizza home without her parents telling you to!". She said well Cara said I could.
I immediately got on the phone and apologized for my child taking almost an entire pizza home from their house. The mom explained that it was sausage pizza and they don't eat sausage, so it was fine. I feel like my kids only want to eat when it is someone elses food. So to all of you that have fed my children at one time or another I want you to know that I do feed them, they just love eating other peoples food.

Quotes from Trey

This has many random conversations. For those who know me well that is not unusual. I often skip from one thought to the next losing whoever is listening in the process. This drives Darnel crazy but he has learned to keep up and try his best to at least pretend like he knows what I am talking about at that moment.

Today was the 2nd day of school. Delaney came out of her room in a striped dress and braided pig tails. Trey looked at her and said, "Oh! You look beautiful!"

With it just being the two of us at home now Trey loves having the chance to get a word in. We often hear him say, "It's my turn." When we are all talking and he has something to say. Today we dropped Delaney off at school and as usual Trey asked, "Where are we going?" I told him we needed to go to the bank before going home. We stopped at the ATM at the bank to make a deposit and headed home. When we pulled in the driveway Trey said, "I thought we were going to the bank." I guess since I didn't go to the drive thru lane with a teller he missed the whole bank stop. I said, "We did go to the bank, I put a check in the machine." Trey said, "Was it a big one." I said, "I wish!"
After thinking about our conversation I think he was wondering if the machine was big, not the check.

Trey ran past me saying, "I'm going potty." When I finished what I was doing I went to check on him. He was finished going potty and was now dumping out the bowl from his potty seat into the toilet. Then he went to the sink to rinse the bowl out. Throughout this process he sang, I'm a helper, I'm a helper.

Back to School!

Today was the first day of school for the girls. They were both up at the crack of dawn with their new outfits on ready to start a new school year. Taylor was anxious to start 7th grade, even though some of her friends aren't on her team. She is on Student Council this year which she is very excited about. Delaney could not wait for 1st grade. She was excited about taking her lunch to school although she said the lunchroom is very loud. This is funny coming from Delaney since I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be louder than her.
It was hard when 11:45 rolled around and I didn't get to pick Delaney up. It was just Trey and I all day. He seemed to like hanging out with mom.
Trey made sure to tell Delaney tonight that we did EVERYTHING fun today; like watch Thomas the Train together. If you read my post on Monday you can only imagine how well that went over with Delaney. At the end of the school day I went to the middle school to give Taylor all of her stuff to decorate her locker. That is very important in middle school. Then I ran to get Delaney and ran back to get Taylor. We decided to get some ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery after our first day of school and go out for dinner to celebrate. The day went well, hopefully it will continue for the rest of the year.

Live on Stage: Delaney and Trey

Delaney and Trey performed for us tonight before bed. They made up the song and the dance moves themselves. I probably didn't need to tell you that, it's pretty obvious once you watch the video.

Quote

Tomorrow is the first day of school. This year Delaney will be in school all day. We spent the last day of our summer vacation shopping and eating lunch out with Mama. While we were out Delaney said, " Don't do anything fun tomorrow until I get home!"
It was funny since last year when she was in half day kindergarten she couldn't wait to tell Taylor everything we did while she was in school all day.

Taylor's 13th Birthday

Taylor is officially a teenager. She decided to have a Scavenger Hunt around our community to celebrate her 13th birthday. We divided the girls into two teams of 6 girls each. I drove one van and my mom drove the other as we drove through the community collecting digital photos of different landmarks and items. The girls had a blast! We returned to our house for cake, snacks, presents and a little Guitar Hero.

Happy 13th Birthday Taylor!

Six Flags

With only a few days left of summer vacation we decided to go to Six Flags on Friday. Taylor and Darnel love all the big rides, so while they were off on the rides Trey, Laney and I meet Characters and ate Fun Dip. We also went to Bugs Bunny National Park where they had rides for Trey and Laney. Trey's favorite ride was the Log Flume. He said, "My shirt got wet, It was so fun." Laney's favorite ride was the Hot Air Balloons in the kids area. Taylor and Darnel's favorite ride was Evel Knievel, the new roller coaster. The weather was perfect and the kids had a great day. On the way home we stopped at Pizza Hut for a late dinner.

MO Botanical Gardens

Wednesday we took advantage of the beautiful weather and headed to The Missouri Botanical Gardens with some friends. We went to the scented garden where we smelled and touched different flowers. We climbed on sculptures and went to the Children's Garden. In the children's Garden the kids climbed in the tree house, dressed up as birds and slid down slides. After a fun filled day in the gardens we had a picnic in the grass.

Potty Training

We have been potty training Trey since July. He is doing great, except for pooping. It does not bother him at all to poop in his underwear. We have tried everything to get him to poop on the potty. We have gone as far as buying Murdoch the train from Thomas the Train and placing it on the shelf above the toilet for a little encouragement. Today I was trying to get him ready to go to the hospital to see my Dad. I called his name and he didn't answer, so I went to look for him. My first stop was the bathroom. There he was....
shaking his underwear like crazy above the toilet trying to get the poop out of the underwear and into the toilet. (He has seen me do this way to many times) Needless to say not all of it got in the toilet. I took the underwear from him and sat him on the potty to finish up. He was able to finish the job on the potty. When he got up he said, "Now I get the train!" He doesn't seem to understand that pooping in his underwear and then shaking it in the potty doesn't count for pooping on the potty.

Dad

Yesterday my Dad had his bypass surgery. The family arrived at the hospital Monday morning and the surgery was at 10am. At 2:30 we received the call in the CVR waiting room letting us know the surgery was complete and he only needed a Triple Bypass instead of the Quadruple. We were anxious to see him, but had to wait until 4:15 when they had him in the ICU and he was ready for visitors. Well, he wasn't ready for visitors, he was sedated but we were ready to see him. He looked great! His color was perfect and his numbers were all good. We were able to see him every other hour for 30 minutes.

Today when I arrived at 12:00 he looked great! He was talking, sitting up and aware of what was going on. The kids can't wait to see him when he is out of ICU. Today they all made pictures to give him when they get to visit him. Hopefully he will be moved out of ICU on Wed.

Go Cards!

Frost Family from KC: DJ, Damon, Devon, Darian, Brooke and Donovan

Trey and Donovan

Damon, Brooke and the kids are in for their family reunion. Brooke thought it would be fun to go to a Cards game while they were here. Trey was in absolute heaven with all the boys to play with. Taylor and Delaney had a lot of fun catching up with Darian. We'll meet up with them again sometime today before they leave to go back to KC. Hopefully we can spend more time with them when they come in for a Baseball tournament in Sept.

More Quotes from Trey

Quote #1

Most people know that Friday night is pizza and movie night at the Frost house.
Yesterday the kids and I spent the day buying clothes, shoes and school supplies. When we were at Target I told the kids they could each pick out some candy for our movie that night. Taylor picked Butterfingers, Laney picked Reese's Pieces and Trey didn't really care, so I knew I had tootsie rolls for him at home. When we were getting ready to start the movie Trey said, " I want some Fingerbutters." As cute as it was we did tell him that they were Butterfingers. He still called them Fingerbutters all night.

Quote #2

Today Trey was eating one of his favorite snacks, Chocolate Chip Gripz. He looked up at me and said, "When this go in my mouf (mouth) where it go?"

Quote from Trey

This morning when Trey put on his BIG BOY underwear I heard him say, "My underwear has a pocket!" I said, "I hope there isn't a hole in them, they are brand new."

When he came to me to show me the "pocket" he put his hand through the fly on the front of his underwear and said, "Here's the pocket!"
